Bio
Stress tolerance in edible crops often accompanies unwanted growth inhibition and yield penalty. My research intends to develop versatile biotechnological tools to improve terminal stress adaptation together with the growth and yield in underutilized legume crops through a unified approach. I explore pleiotropic transcription factors that govern multiple stress responses as well as agronomic traits through the transcriptional and metabolic remodeling of energy pathways. I also engineered robust yeast strains suitable for industrial applications. I employ a combination of genetic, molecular, and computational approaches to execute my translational objectives. Broadly, I am interested in developing convenient and safer strategies to rescue crop yield by solving the mystery of growth/ tolerance trade-off.
