Professor Ricardo Campello's expertise ranges across the disciplines of electrical and computer engineering, computer science, applied mathematics/statistics and data science. He has been teaching and doing research across these disciplines for about 20 years, in Brazil, France, Canada, and Australia. He has successfully advised a number of postgraduate students (about 30 MSc/PhD students completed or in progress) as well as honours and undergraduate students (capstone projects and research internships), many of which supported by research grants. Over the years, Ricardo continuously secured funding to support his research group, including highly skilled personnel. More recently, Ricardo has been engaged in funded research collaborations with external partners, such as the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and the Australian Institute of Marine Sciences (AIMS), in addition to funded international collaboration projects abroad. Apart from research, he has been mainly involved with the online/blended learning business, particularly the design, development and management of new coursework postgraduate programs in the area of data science and analytics.
