Bio
My research line has an integrative approach, studying epidemiological, ecological, genetic and evolutionary aspects of Zoonotic diseases in the wild cycle and its relationship with domestic animals and human. I have used the Chagas disease as study model where have deepened my research in the phylogeography and dispersal of wild vectors as well as the host-parasite interaction, specifically infection and typing of Trypanosoma cruzi in reservoirs from wild areas of Chile.
Currently mi research is focalized in understand the T. cruzi cycle in coastal island of northern Chile. For this I have specifically research the biogeography of island vectors, search of island T. cruzi-hosts and the vector behavior that can to explain the horizontal transmission of T. cruzi between vectors.
It is important to note that I am also interested in biodiversity and systematics, where I am currently working on a vector insect (Mepraia) and a reptile (Liolaemus).
