Bio
Rhys Pullin was born in Newport, Wales in 1975. He received the Ph.D. degree from Cardiff University in 2001. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in performance engineering working in the area of nondestructive evaluation (NDE). His primary area of research is structural health monitoring using acoustic emission and acousto-ultrason-ics in metallic and composite aerospace components. More recently, however, his research work has focused on energy harvesting using radio- frequency transmission, vibration, and thermal differences, and wireless data transmission with the aim of developing autonomous SHM systems for aerospace applications. Dr. Pullin has completed research programs for Airbus, Boeing, EADS, the Ministry of Defence, the Centre for Defence Enterprise, and SKF. Finally, Dr. Pullin is a member of the National Committee for the British Society of Strain Measurement and the Health Management and Prognostics National Technical Committee.
