Bio
Regina Idu Ejemot-Nwadiaro is a Professor in the Department of Public Health, Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, University of Calabar, Nigeria. She holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the University of Ibadan and PhD from the University of Calabar with core specialization in Public Health Nutrition. She has continuing professional training in Health Statistics (University of Liverpool), Research Synthesis and Research Uptake and Science Communication (Stellenbosch University, South Africa).
She is also a Senior Research Fellow with the Calabar Institute of Tropical Diseases Research and Prevention. She served as visiting Lecturer in the Department of Rural Development and Family Science, Debub University, Hawassa, Ethiopia; Technical Aid Corps programme (2002 - 2004) participating actively as Volunteer Nutritionist at the Feeding/Rehabilitation Center in Leku, Ethiopia. She served as Special Assistant to Governor of Cross River State on Public Health, NGOs and Special Projects
(2009 -2015).
Prof Ejemot-Nwadiaro has teaching, mentorship, supportive supervision and research experience spanning over 24 years with her research interest primarily on infection-nutrition nexus (malaria, pneumonia, tuberculosis, diarrhoea and HIV/AIDS) in low/middle-income country settings, vulnerability assessment studies, NTDs and promotion of evidence-based healthcare research, practice and policy. She has authored and co-authored over 90 research articles, books, monographs and technical reports.
She has received several awards, grants and scholarships notably, UNICEF Field ‘A’ Office, Nigeria for HIV/AIDS prevention, World Pneumonia Day 2012 Small Grant Program (SGP) from John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, SGP from COR-NTD and African Research Network for NTDs (ARNTD) with funding from USAID for Onchocerciasis Control in Cross River State; 2017; Multiple Travel grants (2017 and 2018) from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) via Global Task Force for Global Health, Decatur, Georgia, USA to attend annual COR-NTD meeting and annual American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) Conference; Micro-research Funds program 2021 grant; McGill University Global Noncommunicable disease Alliance (GNCDA), Montreal, Canada and TETFUND Institutional Based Research (IBR) Grant; Tertiary Education Trust Fund; 2021; McGill Global Child Health Program (GCHP) (2022); and Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) (2022).
