Bio
My name is Ranjan Das. I received my Bachelor of Engineering degree from Jadavpur University (JU) in Electronics and Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering in 2007. I obtained my PG diploma in Nuclear engineering (specialization: Electronics and instrumentation) in 2008 from Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI). Then I joined NPCIL as a scientific officer to gain some industry experiences. After working five years at different technical positions, again I came back to academia to follow my passion. In 2013, I joined the Electrical Engineering department at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay) to complete my Masters in Electronic Systems design and subsequently finished my PhD in Microwave-Photonics area under the guidance of Prof. Qingfeng Zhang in 2018. Currently, I am working in Photonics IC design for wireline and wireless communication systems. Also I am exploring different photonic circuits for all-optical signal processing.
I am actively involved in many professional societies and a member of IEEE and also serves as a regular reviewer of IEEE, OSA, Elsevier, and Frontiers journals. I would like to do collaborative works because I believe that sharing ideas or knowledge is an efficient and fastest way of learning and improving one's knowledge. Of course, I'm an independent thinker and would like to see myself surrounded by new challenges. I have strong command in Matlab and conventional software like Lumerical, Optiwave, CST, ADS, Cadence, etc. and capable of learning other too. I am looking to carry forward my future research in mmwave and THz frequencies starting from signal generation to signal processing all the way towards design of an efficient high-speed Photonic Signal Processor. Reading all types of books is my hobby and I would like to play cricket and table tennis in my spare time.
