Ramanuj Dasgupta

Dr. DasGupta is a Senior Group Leader at the Genome Institute of Singapore (Cancer Therapeutics and Stratified Oncology). Dr. DasGupta received a double Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (St. Stephen’s College, Delhi), and Genetics from Cambridge University, UK. He pursued his Ph.D. in Developmental and Stem cell Biology at the University of Chicago followed by postdoctoral studies at the Harvard Medical School. He started his own laboratory at NYU School of Medicine/Cancer Institute in 2006, and moved to the GIS-A*STAR in Singapore in 2014. The major focus in the DasGupta laboratory is to implement “Phenotype-driven Precision Oncology” in the clinic by establishing the next-generation of HTS-amenable patient-personalized cancer models to identify novel therapeutic opportunities, and biomarkers. The overall research goal is to define the function, and underlying mechanisms of intra-tumor heterogeneity (ITH) and tumor evolution in the acquisition of treatment resistant, and metastatic phenotypes. A wide variety of functional genomic approaches are employed including single-cell/bulk transcriptomics, epigenomics, and exome-seq to address questions related to how individual cells evolve/acquire metastatic and resistant phenotypes.
