Bio
Ali Ramadhan is currently, a Forage Agronomist at KALRO Mtwapa. He started working at KALRO Kiboko (formall National Range Reseach Centre) as a Technical Officer and later as Range Ecologist from 1977 to 1989. While at Kiboko, he collaborated with Tsavo Savannah Project collaborating in a study looking at effect of trees on their physical, chemical and biological environment at Tsavo National Park. He was transferred to KALRO Mtwapa (formally KARI Mtwapa) in 1990 as a Forage Agronomist where he carried out forage agronomy research both on-centre and on-farm supported by KARI/ ILRI Collaborative Research Project (formerly ILCA). Between 1996 and 200I he carried out research on on-farm testing of proven forage species on-farm. While at the same period, he carried out on-farm work on fodder production technology transfer through grants received from ASARECA. He also worked with Small Ruminant Research based on development of appropriate feeds and appropriate technologies for goats and also in a project upscaling fodder production technologies on-farm. He is currently carrying out a research on enhancement of pasture/fodder production and ‘seed’ multiplication in Coastal region through a grant from East African Agricultural Productivity Project.
Ali Ramadhan authored and co-authored several scientific papers. He holds Msc and Bsc degrees in Range Science from Texas A&M University and Diploma in Range Management from Egerton University. He has also contributed to several leaflets, information bulletins and booklets.
