Bio
Dr Raksha Pandya-Wood, (she/her/hers) currently works as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the Monash University's Climate Change Communication Research node Malaysia. Raksha's research focuses on high impact climate change communication across Southeast Asia. Before Raksha joined Monash Malaysia, she worked as a consultant for various NGOs.
She specialises in using co-production approaches with grass-roots level communities and organisations. Raksha is a qualitative researcher. Before moving to Malaysia, her work in the UK spanned across social care and health in academia, NGOs, and private sectors. Her own research background is in substance abuse, communicable and non communicable diseases using co-production.
She has a track record of deploying and advising on the use of various methodologies including, Delphi and consensus forming techniques, evaluation, implementation science, participatory action research, interviews and focus groups.
She has extensive experience in leadership and project management. In her previous role with the National Institute for Health Research, she set up, managed, and expanded various health research programmes of work. Raksha is skilled in mapping and responding to capacity development initiatives and has extensive experience in facilitating dialogue between stakeholders to form long-term strategic collaborations for health improvement.
Her teaching/lecturing focuses on reducing health and social inequalities. In 2020, she was awarded Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) from the University of Leicester.
Raksha has technical knowledge of using implementation science processes and evaluation theories to move health research findings into actionable change to help improve policy and practice. In 2019, Raksha completed a PhD in Social Science and Health at De Montfort University, UK. Her thesis title was 'Evaluating the impact of patient and public involvement on cancer research outcomes: a UK wide mixed method study'.
