Bio
During four years of PhD, I have worked with a new insulin formulation attached to an inorganic precipitation-induced nano-particulate system that can be given orally. This will reduce dependence on the intramuscular mode of delivery vastly, eliminating patient compliance issues from DM treatment. So far I have tested the effectiveness of the formulation in the rat model successfully. The outcome was published in the Journal of Pharmaceutics (Impact factor 6.63) in July 2020. During my candidature, I have published one research paper and 2 review papers as 1st author. All of my publications are in Q1 journals. One of my papers is in the Journal of Controlled Release (Impact factor 9.77); the publication achieved a total of 50 citations in 2 years. Another conference paper was published at the "3rd Cambridge+Oxford+Sunway Biomedical Symposium on Diabetes: Disarming the silent killer" on 26-27th March 2019. I also happened to win the poster presentation at that conference and the news was featured on the Monash Malaysia achievement page in 2019. Right at the moment, I have one research paper and one review paper in the pipeline as the outcome of my Ph.D. research. In summary, in the last 5 years, we have managed to incorporate oral insulin research in the mainstream research of JCSMHS.
I am skilled with a number of wet-lab techniques like Histology and immunohistochemistry, Microscopy (various fluorescence imaging including Confocal; FE-SEM), gel electrophoresis techniques including 2D-gel electrophoresis and SDS-PAGE. I also have experience in animal handling (rodents and mice). I have worked as visiting research student at Osaka University, Japan for a month. I have several publications at peer-reviewed indexed journals and a total of 192 citations (google scholar) of which 158 was during my Ph.D. candidature.
