Rafael Pérez-López

Dr. Rafael Pérez López is Full Professor (Catedrático de Universidad) at the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Huelva (2021). He is B.Sc. in Geology (2001) and Ph.D. in Earth Sciences (2006) from the University of Huelva. His postdoctoral experience is summarized as follows: (1) 8 months at the Laboratoire de Géophysique Interne et Tectonophysique (Grenoble), (2) 16 months at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (Lisbon) and (3) 36 months at the Instituto de Diagnóstico Ambiental y Estudios del Agua (IDAEA-CSIC, Barcelona) supported by the Juan de la Cierva Fellow Program. He returned to the University of Huelva in 2012 supported by the Science Spanish Ministry-Ramón y Cajal Fellow Program. His main research lines are focused on developing methods for assessing the potential risk caused by the release of contaminants from mining and industrial wastes to the environment, as well as on the development of treatment strategies. He has participated in 10 State Projects from Spanish Ministry (Principal Investigator, PI of 4), 2 Regional Projects (as PI of both), 4 European Projects (INTERREG, LIFE+ and ERAMIN programs), among others. He is author of 123 publications in total, of which 83 are papers in SCI-JCR international journals with an h-index of 29. As for other publications, he is author of 13 articles in non-SCI journals and 27 chapters of books, books and extended proceedings; in addition to 65 presentations in international congresses and 47 presentations in national congresses. Other information of interest: inventor of 1 European patent and 1 National patent, supervisor of 5 Doctoral Thesis already defended, Associate Editor of the Journal of Hydrology and 2 positively-evaluated six-year research periods.
