Bio
Ramy Tantawy is the Co-founder of SenseICs, an integrated circuit design company for sensors & systems. He is a Ph.D. Candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering at The Ohio State University. He received his B.S. and M.E. (with distinction) degrees in electrical Engineering from Northern Arizona University in 2001 and 2003, respectively.
Prior to founding SenseICs, Mr. Tantawy spent over 10 years in CMOS mixed-signal circuit design mostly in monolithic CMOS and hybridized ROIC imaging applications. From 2002 to 2003, he worked at Intel Corporation, Analog Design Center, in Chandler, AZ, evaluating and developing power management techniques for mobile applications. In 2004, Mr. Tantawy joined Micron Technology, Imagining Center ( Aptina Imaging Corporation, Now ONSemi), in Pasadena, CA, where he worked for 3 years on the design and development of several CMOS image sensor products for the cellular phone market in the Mobile Image Sensor Group. From 2007 to 2014, Mr. Tantawy worked at Forza Silicon Corporation (Now AMETEK), in Pasadena, CA, where he participated in various technical, business development and leadership roles to design and develop high-performance CMOS image sensors and ROICs for cinematography, medical, automotive, and defense camera system applications.
His research interests also include imagining readout integrated circuits (ROICs), high-speed communication, RF design, data converters, software-defined radios, clock and data recovery (CDRs), and trusted and assured microelectronics. He authored and co-authored over 5 patents, and 10 conference and journal papers.
