Riadh Sadik

BIOGRAPHY Riadh Sadik acquired his medical degree from Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz/Germany. The title of his thesis was Gastrointestinal transit in health and disease. A method for a combined measurement of gastric emptying, small bowel transit and colonic transit was developed as a part of the thesis. Transit data were characterized for healthy subjects, patients with untreated and treated coeliac disease, liver disease as well as patients with idiopathic bile acid malabsorption. The thesis was written at the Gothenburg University in Sweden in 2003. In the field of motility he characterized transit data for IBS patients and was able to show for the first time that IBS symptoms improve by physical activity. Riadh Sadik is an experienced endoscopist who has developed the use of endoscopic ultrasound at the Sahlgrenska university Hospital. He is leading an active research group with three accomplished theses and five PhD projects in progress. The main research areas are the characterization of the natural history of focal pancreatic lesions over a period of 10 years, the optimization of tissue sampling by endoscopic ultrasound and assessing the factors that influence sampling in different lesions. Another main research area is the detection of different tumor markers for pancreato-biliary malignancies. He has publications in the high ranking JCO and JNCI. Theses 1.
