个人简介
My research explores biotic and abiotic components of vineyard ecosystems to develop sustainable practices that promote plant and soil health and improve fruit quality. My laboratory addresses both fundamental and applied aspects of plant nutrient physiology emphasizing the role of roots, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), and their interactions with other soil biota. Present work includes: assessing and understanding impacts of farming practices on the diversity of AMF in grapevines; examining the symbiotic effectiveness of indigenous vineyard AMF isolates; quantifying nutrient uptake and use by grapevines; defining optimal vine nutrient levels and tissue test standards required to produce premium quality fruit; integrating nitrogen management in both the vineyard and winery to optimize wine composition; exploring how canopy architecture and crop load affect productivity and wine composition; and understanding and managing plant parasitic nematodes in vineyards.
