Bio
Ronald P. Manginell received the B.S. degree in physics from Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY, in 1991, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM, in 1997.
He is currently a Principal Member of the Technical Staff with Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, where he has been working on microsensors, microfabrication, and microanalytical systems for the past 13 years. For the last 11 years, his work was focused on microanalytical systems for the detection of chemical agents, explosives, and toxic industrial chemicals, with emphasis on microfabrication of microgas chromatographs and micropreconcentrators. He was a key member of the SnifferSTAR Program and the MicroChemLab Team, both of which were aimed at portable chemical agent detection. He is currently involved in the DARPA Micro Gas Analyzer Project.
Dr. Manginell was the recipient of the 2003 R&D 100 Award.
