His concern has been to make the best possible use of the functional and anatomical information provided by imaging in understanding cardiovascular diseases and to guide diagnosis and management of patients with these diseases.

Research interests include vascular imaging and assessment of the biophysical properties of the vascular wall, blood flow measurement and blood flow visualization, congenital heart disease, ischaemic and non-ischaemic heart disease, valvular disease and the development of imaging techniques to guide electrophysiological and interventional procedures.
