Bio
Richard G. Blair received the ACS-certified B.S. degree in chemistry and the B.S. degree in mathematics from Hope College, Holland, MI, USA, in 1994, the M.S. degree in physical chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, CA, USA, in 1997, and the Ph.D. degree in inorganic chemistry from the University of California at Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA, USA, in 2004. He worked as a Thermal Testing Engineer for Advanced Microdevices (AMD) and an Educational Software Programmer. Until 2007, he was a Postdoctoral Scholar with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, CA, USA, where he worked on the development of the next generation of thermoelectric power modules for spacecraft. From 2007 to 2013, he was an Assistant Professor with the Department of Chemistry, University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL, USA, where he is a Research Associate Professor with the Florida Space Institute. His work has produced 13 issued patents and over 40 publications. He has experience in moving laboratory research into commercialization. Three of his patents have led to the formation of spin-off companies that have brought jobs to the Central Florida area. His research interests include catalysis, mechanochemistry, materials synthesis, biofuels, two-dimensional materials, solid-solid reactions kinetics, and development of portable forensic analytical methods.
