He was a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee, Arthritis Research UK. He was Deputy Director of a Department of Health and Social Care Policy Research Unit (‘Quality, Safety Outcomes of Health and Social Care’ (QSO)). He was a principal investigator and theme leader for the NIHR Oxford & Thames Valley Applied Research Collaboration (ARC). The focus of his research was on evaluation of health and social care services, and the use of evidence from patient reported outcomes and measures of health status and patient experience.
