Bio
My research focuses on systematics, biogeography, and macroevolution of animals with a clear focus on mammals. I am organizing fieldworks and I am working with zoological museum collections to access biological materials for my research. I have been using both genomic and morphology to build phylogenies to address systematic questions and to describe new species or taxa. My key work is the incorporation of geographical, morphological, and paleontological data into phylogenetic analyses to understand the diversification history of animals. Combining these approaches, I am testing geological scenarios on organism’s dispersal or variations into the rates of diversification to address questions with regards to shifts in diversification rate and their link with ecological opportunities. I am currently working on topics related to (i) the morpho-anatomy and evolution of the skull of mammals, (ii) the systematics, the taxonomy, the biogeography, and the evolution of Indo-pacific and South American small mammals, and (iii) the morphological and genomic evolution of olfactory and chewing in mammals.
