Bio
Pier Paolo Valentini received the Laurea in mechanical engineering and the Ph.D. degree in design of mechanical systems from the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Rome, Italy, in 2000 and 2004, respectively. During 2000–2014, he was a Researcher with the University of Rome Tor Vergata. During 2013–2016, he was a Research Fellow of the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics. He was an Associate Professor during 2014–2021 and has been a Full Professor of applied mechanics and virtual prototyping with the University of Rome Tor Vergata since 2021. He is the Founder and Director of Digital Synapsis Lab.
His research focuses on the design and prototyping of innovative mechanical and medical devices, including mechanisms, power transmissions, complex assembling, and advanced prosthetic devices. During the last decade, he carried out pioneering research on innovative design and optimization methodologies, contributing to the field of automotive engineering, human-machine interface, medicine, aerospace and computer-aided design. He is currently an Associate Editor for the Elsevier Mechanism and Machine Theory.
