Philippe Sarret

Philippe Sarret received the Ph.D. degree from the Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology Institute, Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France, and then completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship with the Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University, Canada, in 2004, in pharmacology, neuroanatomy, and functionality. In 2005, he became a Full Professor with the Université de Sherbrooke, and holds the Canada Research Chair Tier 1 in neurophysiopharmacology of chronic pain. Acting as the Director of the Neuroscience Center of Sherbrooke, the Co-Director of the Institute of Pharmacology of Sherbrooke, and the Co-Director of the Quebec Pain Research Network, he has made significant contributions in understanding the role of several G-protein-coupled receptors in the pathophysiology of pain. His goal is to improve the preclinical assessment of pain and develop novel strategies to prevent and/or treat chronic pain. He is active as a Pharmaceutical Adviser and emphasizes translational research relevant to clinical applications. He is currently leading several multi-institutional and industrial collaborations toward this end. He takes great pride in gathering experts from different fields to foster innovation.
