Bio
Studied prehistoric, medieval and classical archaeology at the Charles University, Prague. He earned his PhD with Magna Cum Laude at Eberhard-Karls-Universität in Tübingen, Germany. Between 2009-2010 he was Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Became habilitated in 2012 (doc.) at the Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. Since 2013 he serves as the director of the Insitute of Classical Archaeology at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. His specialization is Aegean and Anatolian Bronze Age with overreach to the Balkans and Central Europe. In his field he focuses on the pottery studies, chronology and cultural interrelations. Apart from the excavations at Troy he also participated in the research projects on the island of Samothrace, in Pergamon and elsewhere. Currently he is involved in projects in western Turkey at Kaymakçı and at Sardis. He worked on many grant projects, actively participates in numerous international conferences and publishes in scientific journals. He is a member of the European Association of Archaeologists, Czech Archaeological Society, Slovak Archaeological Society, and a full member of the German Archaeological Institute. Recipient of the Michael Ventris Award.
