个人简介
Currently, I am particularly fascinated by the epigenetic modifications of genes involved in the antioxidant defense during cataractogenesis. Now, I am working with DNA sequencing, transcriptional activation, and the mechanisms of DNA demethylation in the human Keap1 and Nrf2 genes. In addition, I found that the Keap1 gene is significantly demethylated in the age-related cataractous (ARC) lenses but not in the clear lenses. Moreover, I am investigating the epigenetic mechanism by which the antioxidant protection failure in the ARC lenses. Also, I am studying the induction of ER stress and the unfolded protein response in human lens epithelial cells by hyperglycemia, methylglyoxal and other advanced glycation end products. I will prepare myself with knowledge and skills that are indispensable for my long-term career goal, which is to explore the complex relationship between promoter DNA sequences and epigenetic gene regulation in human ARC lenses.
