Bio
I am a researcher with a strong background in physics, biophysics, optics and photonics, electrical engineering and computer science and I am very passionate about instrument design, development and application to biological/biomedical research. I extensively collaborate with researchers from different fields including biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering and medicine across the country and worldwide. During my career, I have designed and constructed several custom microscope platforms, two super-resolution microscopes, a light sheet system for image correlation, a patent pending universal light sheet microscopy platform, systems for fluorescence lifetime and spectral detection, and applied them to study biological systems such as cancer cells, immune cells and intestinal epithelium tissue in vitro and in vivo. Additionally, I have consulting experience with industry where I innovated a device for high-throughput droplet detection in a microfluidic chip for antibody discovery. My teaching experience encompasses teaching classes on the principles of physics and biophysics, including curriculum development, student worksheet and exam design as well as the organization of workshops, seminars and lectures paired with hands-on training on advanced fluorescence microscopy.
