Bio
Paulos Taddesse is a full professor in physics (Experimental Solid State Physics, Materials Physics, Materials Chemistry, Materials Science, or Materials Science and Engineering) at Arba Minch University (AMU), Ethiopia. He received his Ph.D. in physics from Andhra University, India (Advisor: Prof. V. Veeraiah); M.Sc. in Physics from Addis Ababa University (Advisor: Prof. Singh), and B.Ed. in Physics from Alemaya University.
Paulos served as a director of the students’ service center, Dean of education faculty, Dean of natural science, and Vice-dean, as well as Associate Registrar of education faculty at AMU. His main areas of research are Electrochemical energy storage and conversion materials; Nanostructured materials; Nano-based materials for solar cell, wastewater treatment, antibacterial and Photocatalytic activities; Nanomagnetic materials; Ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials; Multiferroic composite materials; Nanomaterials synthesis and characterization of materials; and Computational materials physics/sciences.
Paulos has published more than 37 peer-reviewed articles in most of the leading international journals. He has conducted more than 12 paper presentations at professional conferences. He has been conducting three research projects financed by AMU. Paulos is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Ethiopian Journal of Sciences and Sustainable Development and an associate editor of the OMO International Journal of Science. He has also reviewed more than 23 articles for different journals (Elsevier, Springer, etc.). He has examined 6 foreign Ph.D. dissertations from the Physics Department and Engineering Chemistry at Andhra University, India; and one Ph.D. dissertation from the Department of Applied Physics, College of Natural and Computational Science, Adama Science and Technology University, Ethiopia
He supervised 43 MSc students in physics, 21 MSc students in Materials Science and Engineering, and one MSc student in Biotechnology (a total of 60 students) who have successfully completed their theses. Currently, 7 Ph.D. students in materials Physics and 5 MSc students in Materials Science and Engineering are doing their research work under his guidance. Paulos teaches several Ph.D. courses in "Advanced Materials Physics, Advanced Synthesis and Characterization of Nanomaterials, Physics of Nanomaterials, Nanomagnetic Materials and Devices, Advanced Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion, Selected Topics in Materials Physics, Independent Self Study, etc." He also teaches many MSc courses in "Advanced Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion, Advanced Materials Synthesis and Processing, Experimental Work in Materials Science and Engineering, Advanced Materials Characterization, Advanced Materials Processing Technology, Structure and Properties of Materials, Energy Technology, Magnetism and Superconductivity, Nanotechnology: Synthesis, Structure and Properties, Nanoscience & Technology, Solid state physics I, Solid state physics II, Quantum mechanics, Classical Electrodynamics and many others.
