个人简介
I received both, my bachelor diploma in Biotechnology and master’s diploma in Molecular Biology at the University of Warsaw in the field of Immunology. As an undergraduate student I participated in the half-year-long project related to monocyte and dendritic cells activation upon exposure to T4 and A5 phage preparations. Experimental part of my master’s thesis, was done at Dr. Umesh Deshmukh Lab at the University of Virginia as a participant of a one-year “Visiting Research Graduate Traineeship Program (VRGTP)” for Polish Masters Students in the Biological Sciences. The main goal of my master’s thesis was to identify proteins that could initiate autoimmune response to the autoantigen Ro52/TRIM21 in patients with Sjögrens Syndrome. The results of this work were published as my first author publication. After defending my thesis Dr. Deshmukh prolonged my contract for another year at Oklahoma Medical Research foundation (OMRF) since his lab moved there. At OMRF as a Research Assistant I was investigating the role of innate immunity, particularly neutrophil responses via extracellular trap formation (NETs) in development and progression of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). This work served as preliminary data for a new project and was communicated at several international conferences.
As immunology and especially autoimmune diseases turned out to be the major area of my interest, I decided to continue my graduate research in this field and extend my knowledge. The laboratory of Marta Alarcón-Riquelme gave me a unique opportunity to participate in the PRECISESADS project that aims for the molecular reclassification of Systemic Autoimmune Disease (SADs). This allow me not only to work with the experts in the field, but also to study multiple disorders like Sjögrens syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic sclerosis or scleroderma at the same time. In my current project I am investigating differences in the composition of cell populations, their cytokine and signaling pathways across the various patients using functional flow and mass cytometry.
