Dr. Muntner is the director for an American Heart Association Strategically Focused Research Network hypertension center and he is the principal investigator on a grants from the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute to lead a Hypertension Working Group in the Jackson Heart Study and to direct an institutional training grant focused on heart, lung, blood and sleep-related diseases among people living with HIV. He is on the data safety monitoring board for three NIH-funded trials. He was a writing group member of the 2017 American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Guideline for the Management of Hypertension. Dr. Muntner has published over 450 peer-reviewed articles over the past 18 years.
