Paul Griffin is a leading international authority on accounting, financial information, and disclosure. He has published over 80 articles in leading accounting and finance journals, five research monographs for the Financial Accounting Standards Board, and two case books on U.S. corporate financial reporting. His research has had a substantial impact on the profession. His recent publications examine relations between stock prices and greenhouse gas emissions, the informational role of short interest for credit markets, investors’ recognition of stranded assets on energy company balance sheets, CSR performance ratings and analysts’ information processing costs, the effects of social norms on CSR disclosure, and how social networks affect earnings management. His on-going projects include the impact of extreme weather on audits, stock returns, and disclosures in SEC filings; the disclosure practices of R&D-intensive firms; and the effects of redactions in regulatory filings on peer firms’ disclosures.
