Paul A Gray

Doctor Paul Gray a clinical paediatric allergist, immunologist and immunopathologist, specialising in childhood immunodeficiency, allergy and inflammatory disease. His interest in immunology began during his undergraduate degree at Cambridge where he undertook Honours in immunology and virology, and was jointly awarded the University prize in Immunology. Dr Gray completed training in paediatric immunology and immunopathology between the U.K. and Australia. He specialised in clinical immunology and immunopathology and is Joint Head of Immunology and Infectious Diseases at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. He has twelve years of consultant level experience, managing patients with Primary Immunodeficiency and inflammatory disease. His PhD is in the genetics of inborn errors of immunity, and he has gathered a cohort of more than 100 patients with rare genetic disorders of the immune system for genomic studies. He is a founding member of the Clinical Immunogenetics Research Consortium of Australia (CIRCA) and is deeply involved in genomic diagnosis and novel gene discovery, working with patient selection as well as data filtering and variant curation. He has more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, mostly in the field of inborn errors of immunity, and has a range of international collaborations, which have resulted in the discovery of a number of immunogenetic syndromes.
