Over his time at Stanford, Dr. Fisher has served as a member of the School of Medicine Admissions Committee, IRB member, Neurology Clerkship Director, Child Neurology Residency Program Director, Senior Vice Chair for Academic Affairs in Neurology, and Bing Director of the Program in Human Biology in the School of Humanities and Sciences from 2012 through 2019. He is a past recipient of multiple teaching awards, including the Arthur L. Bloomfield and Henry J. Kaiser Awards in the School of Medicine, as well as the Phi Beta Kappa Northern California Association Award for excellence in undergraduate education. He currently teaches the popular undergraduate classes “Cancer Epidemiology” and “The Human Organism” in Human Biology.

Dr. Fisher is presently the Editor-in-Chief for The Journal of Pediatrics, and past editorial board member for the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Frontiers in Pediatric Oncology, and the Journal of Neuro-Oncology. In 2021, he was elected to the COPE Council of the Committee on Publication Ethics, and he has interests in plagiarism, text-recycling, and the editorial process.
