个人简介
My primary research interest is on the development and application of mass spectrometric techniques for the measurement of trace species in the atmosphere. My main focus has been the application of chemical ionization mass spectrometric (CIMS) techniques for the measurement of gas-phase species. I have extensive experience utilizing CH3COO-, H3O+, and I- reagent ion systems for the measurements of organic and inorganic acids, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and nitryl chloride and acyl peroxynitrates. My main research interest is the adaptation of these techniques for field measurement in adversely affected atmospheres through a variety of in-situ platforms (e.g ground based, aircraft, and ship borne). The goals of this research include, but are not limited to, improving our understanding of how oxidative processing of organic species may contribute to particle formation and growth in the atmosphere, atmospheric impacts of biomass burning emissions, heterogeneous processing of aerosols via the interaction with acidic gas phase compounds, gas-particle phase partitioning of atmospheric species, and chemical transformations and transport in the atmosphere.
