个人简介
I finished the integrated master degree in Biological Engineering at the University of Minho, Portugal with a final grade of 16/20. In 2009, I have made my master thesis at Novo Nordisk in Copenhagen, a global healthcare company, where I stayed for 7 months, doing research on monitoring glucose concentration in cell cultures using mid-infrared spectroscopy. In 2010, I enrolled the MIT-Portugal Doctoral Program as a PhD student. Since 2011, I’m working in the Biomaterials and Stem Cell-Based Therapeutic Laboratory, where I performed my PhD thesis project concerning the use of bioengineering platforms to modulate the activity of SMCs derived from Progeria iPSCs, which I finished with the highest qualification. Since 2016, I'm a post-doctoral researcher at University of Coimbra, developing new strategies to modulate HGPS-SMCs and new therapeutic approaches to promote well-being at all ages, especially focused on cardiovascular diseases. I am the author of one book chapter and 10 manuscripts published in international peer-reviewed journals, including a review paper, 8 scientific papers (6 are in the top 25% journals in the field (Q1) and 2 are in the top 10%) and a paper that is currently under consideration in Nature Communications (top 10% journals in the field). I am also the inventor of an international patent (WO/2016/113713). During my career, I have participated in 6 different research projects, both national and international, with teams from the iStem (France), Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (Spain), Molecular Genetics Laboratory (France), Developmental Biology Laboratory (United Kingdom), Leibniz Institute on Aging (Germany) in the areas of iPSCs, vascular aging, HGPS mice models, proteomics… Recently, I have submitted a project to AFM Telethon (France) and I am preparing a project to submit to the FCT (Portuguese funding agency) call. I was awarded with 2 grants from MouseAge European project for a training school (2017, Eindhonven) and to present my work in an aging meeting (2017, Athens) and 1 from COST Action CA15214 and to present my work in an aging meeting (2019, London). In December 2019, I was the recipient of the highly competitive international fellowship from the CEU-Canon Foundation in Europe, for staying 6 months in Japan, May-October 2021, where I will test the effect of senolytic formulations in a senescent mouse model in the lab o Dr. Tohru Minamino, recognized expert in cardiovascular aging. I believe that this time abroad will give me expertise in additional scientific field and the opportunity to enhance network and my CV. I have supervised 3 master students and co-supervise 4 PhD student working on modulating vascular cell senescence. I believe that my background in Bioengineering was very valuable to the results obtained and to the successful development of my PhD and post-doctoral project.
