Bio
Partha Jyoti Das was born on February 3, 1989 and raised in Guwahati, Assam along the city of North Eastern Gateway. Partha earned his B.S. degree from B. Borooah College, graduating Cum Laude in 2012 where he was supported by both a university Honors and a distinction in Mathematics and Physics. During this time at B. Borooah College Partha conducted research in the lab of Prof. Samik Nanda as an Indian Academy of Sciences Summer Research Fellow at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Here Partha’s research focused on total synthesis of natural product Habbemine A and diversity-oriented synthesis. During the summer of 2013, Partha experienced a brief stay at the Central Drug Research Institute in Lucknow, India as an Indian Academy of Sciences Summer Research fellow developing total synthesis of Tamiflu in the labs of Dr Sanjay Batra. For his MSc dissertation, Partha worked on multicomponent Hantzsch condensations catalyzed by Ni nanoparticles for which he was awarded the Best Research Thesis Award by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council, India. Partha then moved the Israel where he began his graduate career at the Ariel University under the tutelage of Dr Flavio Grynszpan and Prof. Michael Firer where he was affiliated with the department of chemical sciences. Partha is currently working on degradation of organophosphate toxicants and modification of syn-bimane fluorophore. Partha published his first paper in Dalton Transaction as frontispiece. In 2017, Partha represented Ariel University at the prestigious Global young Scientist Summit in Singapore. Additionally, he was awarded for his design of performance materials by Merck Inc at the Merck Hackathon, 2017. So far, Partha presented more than 10 poster and oral presentations in international scientific conferences. Recently, Partha received Award of Excellence in Graduate Studies by Graduate School at Ariel University and one of the Best Poster Award in Frontiers in Chemistry Conference in Armenia. Partha is expecting to complete his PhD by March 2019. Currently, Partha is looking for postdoctoral positions.
