Graduate in Veterinary Medicine from the University Complutense of Madrid (UCM, 1974), MSc. in Food Science & Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, 1981), postgraduate student at Harvard University (1981-1982), and DSc. in Veterinary Medicine (UCM, 1982). Postgraduate studies in the UCM (1976-1977), MIT (1977-1981) and Harvard University (1981-1982) including short scientific stays in the Catholic University of America (USA, 1981), University College Cardiff (UK, 1987), AFRC Institute of Food Research, Langford (UK, 1988), Ecole Superieure de Biotechnology de Strasbourg (France, 1995) and Norwegian University of Life Sciences (Norway, 2015).
