As a clinically-trained academic in public healthand infectious disease epidemiology, my research career has focussed on areas of public health priority: Tuberculosis(TB), HIV/AIDS, TB/HIV coinfection, sexual health and STIs. I have developed acohesive programme of work that involves description andanalysis of patterns of infections and associated risk factors in populations;molecular epidemiology; eSexual Health; and the development and evaluation ofcomplex interventions. I am internationally–recognised for leading teams thatproduce innovative research that: (1) has clinical, public health and policyrelevance; (2) links behaviour and biology; (3) combines infectious diseaseepidemiology with other disciplines; (4) spans developed and developingcountries; (5) is both methodological and applied.
