Career Trajectory
Bio
After graduating (with honors) from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys in 1983, S.V. Stepanov entered the post-graduate school in the Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics. In 1987 he defended his Ph.D. thesis “Investigation of the spin dynamics of beta-active nuclei”. From 1986 to 2008 he worked at the ITEP, Laboratory for Neutron Physics. In 2005, he defended the doctoral thesis (habilitated) on “Positrons in molecular media: theoretical foundations of positron spectroscopy”. In 2017 S.V. Stepanov headed the laboratory for physical chemistry (Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Phys-ics, National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute”). The main scientific research of the laboratory lies in the field of positron annihilation spectroscopy, materials science, radiation physics and chemistry.
