My primary research focus centres on the spatial distribution of trace species, particularly ozone, within the tropical upper troposphere and lower stratosphere (UTLS) and its intricate relationship with various dynamic atmospheric phenomena. My doctoral research predominantly revolves around the South Asian region, a pivotal locale in the realm of climate studies. Throughout my research tenure, I have meticulously assessed the influence of the Hadley circulation, western disturbances, local meteorological conditions, long-range transport mechanisms, and monsoon dynamics on ozone distribution within the UTLS over South Asia. Complementing this, I have actively participated in multiple balloon-borne field campaigns spanning the Indian subcontinent and adjacent oceanic areas, thereby cultivating expertise in conducting and executing experiments, as well as proficiently analysing data collected from balloon-borne instruments, including various types of radiosondes, ozonesondes, and CFHs. Additionally, I possess adeptness in processing and interpreting extensive datasets acquired from a diverse array of satellites and reanalysis sources, which together with the in situ observations serve as the foundational pillars of my research endeavours. Furthermore, I have harnessed air mass trajectory analysis models, regression techniques, and clustering models for comprehensive data analysis. My research interests encompass:
Tropical meteorology, Tropical upper troposphere and lower stratosphere (UTLS) dynamics, Atmospheric trace gases (ozone and water vapour), Tropical Tropopause Layer (TTL), Stratosphere-Troposphere Exchange (STE), Asian summer monsoon dynamics.
