Bio
From 2005 to 2015, Dr. Paggiaro was a member of the International GINA Executive Committee and Chairman of the GINA Mediterranean Regional Initiative. Since 2000, he has been the coordinator of the Italian GINA Guidelines. He coordinates national research initiatives, serves as a member of the Steering Committee of the SANI Project (Severe Asthma Network in Italy), and is a Principal Investigator in numerous international clinical studies on asthma, COPD, and bronchiectasis treatment. Additionally, he is responsible for several research projects funded by the Ministry of Scientific and Technological Research (MURST), the National Research Council (CNR), pharmaceutical industry, AIFA, the Ministry of Health, and the Tuscany Region.
Areas of expertise include: diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of asthma, utilizing functional tests and biomarkers, and potential use of new biologic drugs for severe forms; diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD); diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of bronchiectasis and other acute and chronic pulmonary infections; diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of interstitial lung diseases; diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic respiratory failure; assessment and treatment of chronic cough; outpatient respiratory rehabilitation for improving symptoms and quality of life in chronic respiratory diseases.
