个人简介
Philip McCallion PhD is currently Professor and Director of the School of Social Work within the College Of Public Health at Temple University. He is director of the ABA Centers of America Autism Lab, co-founder/co-PI/co-applicant of the intellectual Disability Supplement to the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing and National Consultant on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia for the National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center. Over 30 years Professor McCallion's translational research and training offerings to States, large cities and communities have extended to:
• System design work on improving systems integration, creating aging prepared/friendly communities and on embedding continuous quality improvement processes and outcomes, evidence-based health promotion, self-management, care transitions, options counseling, screening and participant-directed practices in services delivery.
• Systems change work moving the programming options in senior centers from evidence-informed to highest level evidence-based.
• Development and successful randomized control trial testing of interventions for grandparent/kinship caregivers to support continued care.
• Evaluation of non-pharmacological interventions for persons with dementia and of psycho-educational interventions for family caregivers including improved reach to African-American, Latinx/Hispanic, Chinese and Korean families.
• In-person, webinar-based and phone based training and technical assistance in 8 countries on dementia care and related service redesign, particularly for programming for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Development of innovative demonstration projects designed to maintain aging persons with intellectual disabilities in the community.
• Advancing early identification, assessment, care planning, and person-centered care for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities when and if they experience symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Professor McCallion has over 250 publications and has received over $48,000,000 in grants and contracts. He is a fellow of American Association of Social Work and Social Welfare, the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, the Gerontological Society of America and the Institute for Counseling and Personal Development. He has received the Career Achievement Award from the Association for Community Organization and Social Action, Lifetime Achievement Award, American Public Health Association, Disability Division; President’s Award for Exemplary Community Engagement University at Albany; Career Achievement Award. Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work; and Excellence in Research Award, University at Albany.
