个人简介
Philippe M. Teillet received the Ph.D. degree in astrophysics from the University of Toronto, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in 1977.
He is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Prior to his academic appointment in 2006, he was a Senior Research Scientist at the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS), Natural Resources Canada, in Ottawa, Canada. He joined CCRS following his Ph.D. in 1977 and remained at CCRS until 2006 with the exceptions of a year as Visiting Scientist at the Optical Sciences Center of the University of Arizona and a year as Visiting Scientist at the Biospheric Sciences Branch of the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. His bibliography includes over 250 publications and over 350 presentations. He had 29 years of experience in the creation and direction of government R&D programs and projects, was the Scientific Authority or Scientific Advisor on 37 contracts totalling $8 million, and supervised or co-supervised many scientists, post-doctoral fellows, research assistants, graduate students, and co-op students. While preferring to work behind the scenes, he has demonstrated exceptional national and international leadership in several research fields. His research concerns terrestrial remote sensing scene physics and analysis, spectroradiometric imaging, satellite sensor and image radiometry, and vegetation canopy spectral reflectance. He has initiated, led, and/or participated in over twenty field measurement campaigns in Canada, the USA, and elsewhere, in a wide variety of contexts, including post-launch satellite sensor calibration, atmospheric aerosol properties, agriculture, forestry, environmental monitoring, and soil moisture monitoring.
Dr. Teillet has been Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on several NASA Science Teams and on several Canadian strategic grant teams, among others. His honours and awards include the Alberta Ingenuity New Faculty Award, the 2006 Gold Medal Award of the Canadian Remote Sensing Society, several Merit Awards from Natural Resources Canada, a Public Servants Inventions Act Award, and the Public Service Award of Excellence from the Treasury Board of Canada. He has been on the Editorial Board of the journal Remote Sensing of Environment for over ten years and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Journal of Remote Sensing for four years. He served on the Environmental Earth Sciences Grant Selection Committee of Canada's Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and on the Research Management Committee of the Geomatics for Informed Decisions (GEOIDE) Network of the Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) of Canada.
