个人简介
Dr. Prodip Das is an associate professor in hydrogen energy systems at the University of Edinburgh, UK. He received his BSc in mechanical engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) in 1998 with distinctions including Ranked First, Honors, and Record Marks. Thereafter he received two masters' degrees in mechanical engineering. The first one was from BUET, Bangladesh and the second one was from the University of Alberta, Canada. After graduating from BUET, he worked as a Lecturer (1998–2001) and then Assistant Professor (2001–2007) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, BUET. In 2010, he received his PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada with a specialization in hydrogen fuel cells under the supervision of Prof. Xianguo Li. After his PhD, he was an NSERC Postdoctoral Fellow at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA in Dr. Adam Weber’s group from 2010 to 2013 investigating water management and dynamics of water transport in PEM fuel cells and real-time defect detection using infrared thermography.
Dr. Das’ research expertise and interests span the broad area of “hydrogen energy and electric vehicles” with a focus on the thermofluid aspects of fuel cells, electrolyzers, and Li-ion batteries, and the recycling and reuse of EV batteries. He also has expertise in fundamental studies in the areas of nature-inspired thermal transport, thermal management, convective heat transfer, nanofluids, and electro-thermal characterization. Additionally, he is developing a research program on the safety, health, and environmental impacts of EV batteries, as battery fire and safety can be a serious threat to both human life and the natural environment when batteries are abused or not dealt with care. Further information on his research is available at https://www.research.ed.ac.uk/en/persons/prodip-das.
Dr. Das has published over 120 scientific articles, 7 book chapters, and 3 books in the areas of hydrogen fuel cells, Li-ion batteries, convective heat transfer, and related mechanical engineering areas, including an invited book entitled “Fuel Cells for Transportation”. According to Google Scholar, the total number of his articles’ citations is over 3500 with an associated h-index of 27. He has given 30+ invited seminars/lectures at universities and conferences, chaired/organized 20+ conference tracks and symposiums, served 20+ conferences as an organizing/technical committee member, and served 20+ leading journals as a reviewer.
Dr. Das currently serves as associate editor of Frontiers in Energy Research (Frontiers Media), Journal of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage (ASME), and Frontiers in Chemical Engineering (Frontiers Media) and is on the editorial/advisory board for five other journals (Energies, Batteries, Renewable and Sustainable Energy, Inventions, and Challenges). In addition, Dr. Das was a special issue editor for Energies (MDPI), Energy and AI (Elsevier), Frontiers in Energy Research (Frontiers Media), and Batteries (MDPI). He is also an expert panel member of the Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council, a Full Member of the EPSRC Peer Review College, and serves as a grant reviewer for EPSRC (UK), Leverhulme Trust (UK), ANR (France), BEPRC (Bangladesh), NSERC (Canada), and Advanced Light Source (USA). He is the recipient of numerous academic and professional awards, including the prestigious Dr. V.G. Desa Gold Medal (BUET), the Dr. Chandrashekar Memorial Award in Sustainable Energy (University of Waterloo), and the 2018 Emerging Investigators in Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage (ASME).
