个人简介
I am Pedro Gomis-Roman, an Electronics Engineer and PhD in Bioengineering, working as researcher and professor of Computing and Biomedical Engineering at Automatic Control Department (ESAII) of Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC). My research work is done with the group Bioinformatics and Biomedical Signals Laboratory (B2SLab), at Biomedical Research Center (CREB – Centre de Recerca en Enginyeria Biomèdica). I was Full Professor at the University Simon Bolivar (USB), Venezuela, until 2002. Since 1984 I worked with the Bioengineering and Biophysics Applied Group (GBBA) at the same University where I taught Biomedical Signals and Systems in post-graduated programs. My research work has also been done at the St. Bartholomew’s Hospital College, University of London, U.K. and University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, USA.
My main research interest is applied techniques of bioinformatics and bioengineering mainly towards cardiovascular research. My objectives are focused in applying signal processing, machine learning and statistical pattern recognition as diagnostic and monitoring tools in clinical applications.
Medical professional experience
Medical Physics Technician, St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London, England, from 25/06/1979 to 30/09/1980.
Teaching Experience
Assistant, Associate, Lecturer and Full Professor, Dept. Industrial Technology, Universidad Simón Bolívar (USB), Venezuela, from January 1981 to July 2002. Teaching courses in in engineering degrees: Control Systems, Electronic Instrumentation, Electric Circuits, Electronic Circuits and biomedical Devices. Master in Biomedical Engineering: Biomedical Signals and Systems.
Associated Professor since 2002 of Automatic Control Dept (UPC). Courses taught: Computer Science, Therapeutic Equipment, Biomedical Signal Processing, Clinical Engineering, Biomedical Modeling and Control, New Technologies for Energy and Distribution (Coordinator, English). Methods of Modeling and Simulation of Biosystems.
