Bio
Pedro Galvín has developed his researches in subjects of dynamics of structures, wave propagation and structural integrity in which he has published books and articles in journals of recognized international prestige and has transmitted its results to the society through research projects with the Government of Spain and Andalusia, and by technical assistance to companies such as ADIF, SNCF, Abengoa, Acciona, Ayesa, IAPH, Ineco, Prointec, etc.
He is a member of the Spanish Society of Numerical Methods in Engineering, Spanish Association of Mechanical Engineering, Spanish Association of Theoretical and Applied Mechanical, Society for Experimental Mechanics and the European Association for Structural Dynamics. He is currently a Professor of the Department of Continuum Mechanics and Theory of Structures at Universidad de Sevilla.
Since 2003, Pedro Galvín has researched about vibrations induced by railway traffic. He has developed and experimentally validated several numerical models to predict soil and building responses caused by train passages and he has participated in the design of several railway lines.
The research carried out by Pedro has been published in more than forty papers in JCR journals. He got honours from Universidad de Sevilla for his PhD thesis, and also received COMSA railways research award, Agustín de Betancourt secondary award of the Royal Academy of Engineering of Spain and the Cheney Fellowship.
