1997/07 Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Perugia (defended at the University “La Sapienza”, Rome). Title of dissertation: Search for flavour changing decays of the Z0 boson at LEP. Thesis advisers : Prof. R. Battiston (University of Perugia), Prof. A. Bay (EPFL)。 1993/07 M.S. in Physics at the University of Pisa. Title of dissertation : Interference in the QCD radiation at the Tevatron ppbar collider. Thesis advisor : Prof. Paola Giannetti (INFN Pisa).
Since 2013/09 Full professor at China Central Normal University (CCNU). Activity : Teaching, research in the ALICE experiment at CERN.
2002-present Member of the jury for the courses of “Particle Physics” and “Introduction to
astro-particles” at the Physics Departments of UNIL and EPFL even after the end of the
contract with UNIL/EPFL.
2009-present Chang You Hao, Study of the Double Parton Scattering in 3jet + γ topologies
at the LHC, National Taiwan University.
2011-present Hugh Tay, “Study of the Double Parton Scattering on benchmark Higgs,
SUSY and Exotica searches”, summer student project and honour thesis at University of
Singapore。
The research interests of Prof. Paolo Bartalini involve primarily experimental high
energy and nuclear physics at colliders, in particular the study of Quantum Chromo
Dynamics (QCD) and Electro-Weak (EW) physics aimed at constraining the Standard
Model (SM) and at finding evidence for new physics. In order to provide a
homogeneous picture of the relevant phenomenology at hadron and ion colliders it
is essential to invoke the concept of the Multiple Parton Interactions (MPI). In his
recent work Prof. Paolo Bartalini has contributed to constrain the MPI in pp
interactions. He is currently organizing an ambitious research plan in ALICE aiming at
generalizing the MPI measurements in pp, pA and AA interactions at the LHC/LIC.
