Career Trajectory
Bio
My line of research is based on the development of numerical models for solving problems related to water engineering. As the different publications show, I use a multidisciplinary approach using computational techniques to provide solutions to engineering problems. Currently I am a postdoctoral researcher "Margarita Salas" with the Universidade de Vigo and I am a visiting researcher at the Universidade da Coruña.
Throughout my research career, I have participated in the development and application of different numerical models. I am one of the developers of the open source software DualSPHysics (https://dual.sphysics.org), a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model based on the SPH method and oriented to the simulation of free surface fluids and their interaction with structures. Related to this project, I have also developed VisualSPHysics (https://github.com/EPhysLab-UVigo/VisualSPHysics) an open source tool to realistically render fluid simulations. I am also the main developer of Iber+ (https://iberaula.es), an implementation of the Iber model (a 2D hydraulic and hydrological modeling platform) that uses HPC techniques to reduce computational times by two orders of magnitude, thus addressing one of its main limitations. During my research period I have also participated in several dissemination and training activities on the development and use of these tools.
During my career I have published a total of 17 scientific articles (4 first author) in JCR (Journal Citation Reports) journals. Of these 11 belong to Q1 journals and 5 to Q2 journals. These publications have had a remarkable impact as evidenced by the number of citations according to SCOPUS, accumulating a total of 797 citations and an average over the last five years of 134 citations per year (52 in 2018, 94 in 2019, 116 in 2020, 196 in 2021 and 212 in 2022) and an h-index of 9. I have published one book and three book chapters. I have been part of the organizing committee of four R&D conferences, two of them national and two international.
I have participated as a researcher in 7 R+D+i projects funded in competitive calls. Being principal investigator in one of them, called "Enhancement of the tourist interest of the Archaeological and Thermal Complex of Aquis Querquennis (Baños de Bande, Ourense) - Analysis of floods in the archaeological site of Aquis" funded by the Diputación Provincial de Ourense.
