Bio
Olgierd Hryniewicz received the M.Sc. degree in electronics from the Faculty of Electronics, Warsaw University of Technology, Warsaw, Poland, in 1970, and the Ph.D. degree in cybernetics from the Institute of Management and Automatic Control, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, in 1976. He received the D.Sc. degree (Habilitation) in statistics from Cracow University of Economics, Kraków, Poland, in 1985.
He is currently the Head of the Department of Stochastic Methods of the Systems Research Institute, Polish Academy of Sciences (SRI PAS). In the years 1992–1998, he was the Deputy Director for Research of SRI PAS, and in the years 1998–2010, he was the Director of SRI PAS. Since 1996, he has been holding the state title of Professor (in the area of technical sciences). He is the elected member of the Committee on Informatics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. His research interests include fuzzy modeling of random events and applications of fuzzy statistics in reliability and statistical quality control.
