Bio
Susana Novais is graduated in Biomedical Engineering. In February 2019 she received the Ph.D. degree in Physics Engineering (Optics and Photonics) with honors and distinction from the Aveiro University, Portugal. The research work developed during PhD relied in the development of new fibre optic solutions. She did two short missions, the first in Scotland, in Johnson Matthey Battery Systems Company, and the second one in Germany, Helmholtz Institute. She already participated in 5 projects, National and European projects, and in April 2019 she joined at the Center for Applied Photonics at INESC TEC as an Assistant Researcher, to work on the FCT project, ENDOR (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-029724), integrating as a key-partner the Portuguese Oncology Institute of Porto. In last 5 years, she has published about 30 papers in international journal, book chapters and conference proceedings and she has published more than 20 publications in posters and/or oral communications. Her field expertise is optical fibre sensors applied to the lithium ion batteries, optical fibre designs and their applications in challenging media, and her current researcher interests are new optical fibre sensors for medical and environment applications. As a young researcher she look for to be responsible, ambitious but collaborative, and she try to be pragmatic and autonomous in the performance of duties, to achieve the proposed objectives with success. She feel highly motivated and willing to always be at the forefront of the constant learning and discovery that is Science, always trying to promote the well-being of Society.
