个人简介
Noore Alam is an epidemiologist / public health expert with over 25 years of technical and leadership experience with Australian Government (16 years) and internationally with WHO and several other UN agencies. Currently he is the focal point for influenza and other high-threat pathogens of epidemic and pandemic potential in the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMRO). Prior to this, he was the COVID-19 Contact Tracing Sub-Pillar Lead with WHO, where he managed the development of the global contact tracing policy guidelines.
In 2020-2021, he was seconded into the Queensland Government COVID-19 Incident Management Team where he served as Epidemiology Team Lead.
Noore’s international experience has been wide ranging, practical and collaborative. He served in leadership roles involving disease prevention, epidemic response to health service and system improvement, capacity building, programme monitoring and evaluation with several UN agencies including World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and World Food Programme (WFP).
He holds the degrees of Master of Applied Epidemiology from the Australian National University, Master of Public Health from University of Sydney, and Master of Social Sciences (Sociology) with Honours from Dhaka University, Bangladesh. His current PhD research assesses country capacities to apply the One Health approach to address the risks of emerging infectious diseases that occurs at human-animal-environment interface.
Noore Alam is an Associate Editor of the Global Biosecurity journal. Since 2015, he has been a collaborator for the Global Burden of Disease Study. He is a member of the Royal Society of Queensland, Australia, and an Executive Council Member of the Australian Institute of International Affairs - Queensland Branch.
