个人简介
Nicolene Jooste is a Lecturer in Anatomy at the University of Johannesburg. Nicolene’s research area focuses on forensic anthropology. She has submitted her PhD, which considers different statistical methods to estimate adult age-at-death using a multivariable approach, for examination. In addition to her research into age-at-death estimation, she is also active in research related to the relationship between the mouth and the underlying skull as it applies to craniofacial approximation.
Nicolene is passionate about teaching anatomy to undergraduate students. She frequently updates her teaching with creative ideas that keep learning interesting. She has designed a series of interactive self-paced learning resources that guide students through systemic anatomy. She keeps her modules current with teaching techniques that are reported and verified in peer reviewed journals, such as active learning techniques. Nicolene provides guided opportunities for active learning, where students showcase examples from contemporary media and solve case studies to better understand anatomy. She is a power-user of the Blackboard learning management system and makes use of a variety of tools to enhance the learning experience including wikis, blogs and quizzes as well as embedded 3D anatomical models, crosswords and interactive digital notice boards. Nicolene is currently planning several scholarly research projects for the near future.
