Nt Cherpak

Nickolay T. Cherpak (Senior Member, IEEE) received the D.Sc. degree from the Usikov Institute for Radiophysics and Electronics, National Academy of Science of Ukraine (NASU), Kharkiv, Ukraine, in 1987. He was a Professor with National Technical University (NTU), Kharkov Polytechnic Institute, Kharkiv, for more than 20 years, where he has supervised seven Ph.D. dissertations. He is currently a Chief Researcher with the O. Ya. Usikov Institute for Radiophysics and Electronics, NASU. He is also the Head of the Research Group that is developing the millimeter wave (mm-wave) measurement technique for the characterization of condensed matter, such as unconventional superconductors and lossy dielectric liquids. The group also performs the relevant physical studies. He has authored and coauthored more than 370 publications, including three books, five reviews, and more than 20 patents (Former SU, Ukraine, and USA). He was previously engaged in the development of low-noise solid-state microwave and millimeter mm-wave maser amplifiers. Prof. Cherpak is a member of the Specialized Council for the award of the scientific degree of the Doctor of Science at National University of Radio Electronics, Kharkiv. He was a recipient of the I. Puljuy Award of Presidium of NASU for the best experimental work on RF and microwave studies of HTS in 1999. He also received the Academician Sinelnikov Award from the Kharkiv Regional Administration (2013) and the L. Shubnikov Award from the Presidium of NASU for the best experimental work on microwave impedance studies of new, unconventional superconductors (2016). He is a member of URSI Commission E in Ukraine and was a Chairperson of the IEEE Joint East Ukraine Chapter (2014–2017). He has been the Chairperson, the Program Committee Member, and the Session Chair of a number of international conferences and workshops. He is an Editorial Staff Member of two scientific journals.
